SJTU “Front-runners” at 6th Freescale Cup Final Racing

      SJTU team consisted of students from SEIEE, School of Mechanical Engineering, NAOCE, and School of Software performed best ever in the Freescale Cup National University Smart Car Racing. They obtained the first prize in CCD camera, two second prizes in photo-electricity and electromagnetism and a merit award in creative. The 6th Freescale Cup was organized at Northwestern Polytechnical University, August 19-20, 2011. 1536 teams from 333 colleges and universities participated in the racing while only 186 teams from 101 colleges and universities survived the 7-divisional prelim contests.

     The racing is a creative S&T competition covering control, pattern recognition, sensor technology, electronics, electric, computer, mechanics and others. Guided by Freescale HCS12 single chip computer as core control module, the modified model car marches along the fixed route and the one with the shortest completion time is the winner. The racing is aimed at strengthening the practice and innovation competence, and teamwork of university students, and promoting higher education reform.
