IEEE President visited SJTU

From Nov. 19 to Nov.20, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) 2013 President Peter Staecker and IEEE fellow,Member of The Royal Society of Canada, and of Chinese Academy of Engineering, WU Ke paid visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) by the invitation from Executive Dean of School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering. President Staecker not only met the Vice President of SJTU, Zhang Wenjun, but also presented three lectures to SEIEE-IEEE experimental class.

IEEE is one the biggest and most influential academic institutions in the world. SEIEE-IEEE experimental class, which was launched in 2011, aims at cultivating high-end scientists and engineers in electronic information and electrical engineering, by referring to MIT model and IEEE standard  with IEEE educational resources. From the year 2011 and 2012, there have been more than 180 students.

As the first experimental class of such kind, the class has attracted highlight from home and abroad.

Though the English class given by the two scholars did bring difficulties to freshmen and sophomore, the close communication with them encourage all of the students. They not only felt the scholarliness, but also opened their eye sight, strengthened understanding and interest to cutting-edge technologies, and for the most important, triggered to reflect about the future.

President   Staecker also thought highly of the experimental class, and showed great support.
