DR. DIDIER LEGALL IS A VISIONARY, PIONEER AND EXPERT in the video compression industry, including authoring and co-authoring many digital-video-related patents. He currently holds the title of Executive VP of Ambarella Inc.Prior to Ambarella, LeGall was co-founder and CTO of C-Cube until its acquisition by LSI Logic. At LSI, LeGall served in several executive functions. Before C-Cube, LeGall managed the Visual Communication group at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore) and held an adjunct professorship at Columbia University.LeGall started the MPEG standardization effort and served as chairman of the MPEG Video Group from 1989 to 1995, delivering the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 international standards. He is well known for his work in MPEG standardisation, and is frequently referred to as “the father of MPEG”.

Dr. LeGall will talk about the trends of video technology, covering several aspects, including the evolution in resolution/colour range of display, new video processing and compression technology, network connection of video devices, and trends in wearable devices where small footprint and less power consumption are required.
