President Delegation from the University of Zaragoza Visited SEIEE

The president delegation from the University of Zaragoza (UZ), Spain, visited SEIEE on 1st Nov. A reception meeting was held in the room 3-317 of SEIEE to welcome our distinguished guests from Spain. Leaded by the Chancellor of UZ, Prof. Manuel José López Pérez, the delegation included the Vice-chancellor of Science Policy of UZ, Prof. Luis Miguel García Vinuesa, the Vice-chancellor of International Relations and Development Cooperation of UZ, Mrs. Regina María Lázaro Gistau, the Director of the Aragón Materials Science Institute (ICMA), the Director of the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragón, Prof. Manuel Ricardo Ibarra García, and a tenured scientist Mr. Jesús Martínez de la Fuente.

Representing SJTU, the Deputy Director of SJTU’s International Cooperation Office, Ms Liang Guo, and the Deputy Director of SJTU’s Graduate School, Mr. Shengrong Yang, attended the meeting to deliver a presentation introducing the national-leading disciplines and graduate students in SJTU.

The Assistant Dean of SEIEE, Prof. Yinxin Ma, gave a brief introduction to the school. Prof. Daxiang Cui, the Chair of Department of Instrument Science & Technology, suggested that a cooperative workshop should be organized every year to share the achievements gained by both universities in the area of Micro-Nano Material Science. The first workshop is expected to be held in June 2016.

The University of Zaragoza is one of the most prestigious universities in Spain, and is especially strong in the area of Micro-Nano Material Science. A Double-Doctoral Degree Program has been signed by both universities, and a group of Spanish students has already enrolled in SEIEE from this September.

In the afternoon, the delegation escorted by Prof. Hui Liu, the Vice Dean of SEIEE, visited Prof. Jie Zhang, the president of SJTU. Presidents from two universities both recognized the great achievements that have been obtained relying on the collaborations between scholars from both sides. Further cooperation will be discussed in the future to strengthen the friendship of two universities.
