IBM Global Vice President Visited SJTU

On the occasion of IBM Centennial, its Vice President Dr. Robert Morris visited SJTU to explore deeper cooperation. SJTU Chairperson Ma Dexiu met with the delegation.

Dr. Robert Morris also had an in-depth discussion with leaders from School of Electronic, Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE), and Office of Research Management on the further cooperation matters. Vice President Zhang Wenjun extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation led by Robert Morris and expected deeper SJTU-IBM cooperation.

SJTU and IBM cherish a friendly partnership within extensive cooperation fields for years. In 1995, Shanghai Jiao Tong University officially joined "IBM - Software Talent Education Partner" ("STEP" plan) and established IBM technology center in the current SEIEE. The cooperation covers curriculum setting, faculty training, professional authentication, scholarships for faculty and students, visiting scholar, equipment donations, campus activities and internships & employment, etc. In addition to SJTU Software School in 2002, IBM has established a formal partnership with Microelectronics, Antai College of Economics and Management, and other schools up to now. This 16-year SJTU-IBM cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The IBM centennial is an opportunity to expand the cooperation, so that more results in technological development can be obtained for the benefit of mankind and the society.

After the meeting, Dr. Robert Morris gave a wonderful lecture to SJTU students in Guangbiao Building.
