【硕士培养流程】 Master Program Cultivation Timeline


Each SJTU Master Program student has to finish three requirements to graduate:


And general timeline to finish those three requirements is:


1. Courses

1) In first two weeks, students choose courses from Program Curriculumn to make Training Plan. This step should be done together with supervisor.

2) Generally, master students have to finish 28 credits in first academic year(1st and 2nd semester).

3) To find all courses in English, students could check this database . Not in this database means courses are not in English. Among those courses, 5 courses (total 11 credits) are mandatory:

Chinese (2 credits, G090511,fall semester)

Chinese Culture (2 credits, G090510, fall semester)

Academic English (2 credits, FL28002, spring semester)

One math courses (3 credits, course code and semester infor check here)

Academic Seminar(2 credits, course code and semester info check here)

4) Students could choose 1-2 courses from SJTU Michigan University Joint Institute or Mechanical Engineering School.

5)  GPA ≥2.7 is minimun requirement to graduate. Failure to finish this requirement would lead to failure in Master Student Intermediate Assessment in third semester.  Only by passing Intermediate Assessment could students step into 3rd step "Thesis".

2. Publications

Generally master students need to publish at least ONE paper.

Publication could be journals paper or conference paper.Normally the publication should be searchable in Engineering Index (EI) or Science Citation Index (SCI) .

Each department has their own requirement for publication

Each supervisor has the right to decide more specific requirement.

Normally, students needs to finish this requirement before the end of second year of the whole program.

3. Thesis

After finishing all courses with GPA≥2.7,  student could initiate Proposal, which is a sign to ignite dissertation procedure, normally in the end of third semester.
