SEIEE 2020 Spring Semester Cultivation and Degree Arrangement (during epidemic prevention and control period)
FAQ for Graduate Student

Dear graduate students,
SJTU has decided upon and announced the postponement of the opening of the 2020 spring semester to prevent and control the spread of the novel coronavirus, and required that ALL SJTU students NOT to return to the university in advance. The SEIEE graduate administration office has arranged the common questions and answers related., so that students can read them and arrange their own study and scientific research reasonably:
1. Postgraduate course and enrollment
(1) When can students return to school?
Students will not be allowed to back campus before the end of February. The specific time of return will be notified by SJTU.
(2) How to register for 2020 spring semester and sign for the scholarship? How to extend visa?

Scholarship signing is subject to online registration. No re-registration is required.
After your study extension approved by graduate school, you can contact ISC to extend your visa.

(3) When can add/drop course/modify training plan/ Course retake/re-examination applications?

If you are unable to check the course information , it means no this course this semester.
For the public courses offered by the graduate school, including mathematics, English, please check the website of the graduate school (link above), and pay attention to the notice of course selection on the homepage of the graduate school. All courses must be completed online class selection;

Modify training plan:submit the application online through"graduate education management information system",download the form and get approval from supervisor, send this materials(the form with supervisor digital signature or screen shot of supervisor email) to seieeyjb@sjtu.edu.cn.
Please note: After the course selection, please check the course schedule to confirm the selected courses.
Course retake/re-examination applications can be submitted by the graduate student himself in the "graduate education management information system" and get approval by SEIEE, graduate school.
(4) How does the spring course work?

(5) How to apply for suspension, extension, change of major and other changes of school status?
During the epidemic prevention and control period, graduate students who need to apply for deferment of graduation, suspension of schooling, or transfer to a new major/supervisor can submit their applications online through my.sjtu.edu.cn or SJTU app.
Drop-out and other student status issues will be postponed please contact coordinator Ms.Chen ychen12@sjtu.edu.cndirectly.
(6) How to carry out the proposal of the 2018 master's program, which was scheduled to begin in March?
Delay, depending on the situation.
(7) How to get the online teaching materials?
Teachers select reference materials and provide some electronic reference materials according to the course situation. Students can also purchase reference materials through the network platform.
(8) When are last semester's course scores online?
All course grades are expected to be online by mid-march.
(9) Can I review the online courses?
PPT, video and broadcast materials of online courses will be uploaded on CANVAS website, and students can download and study by themselves.
II. Degree application
(1) How to defend for master students who want to apply degree on March?
Defense can use video defense mode; specific details please contact each department degree secretary.
(2) How to submit the degree application form and other paper materials of degree application?
Students can contact their supervisor and teachers related by email, WeChat to fill in the electronic version. Students should keep the email or WeChat screenshot communicated with the supervisor and teachers related and submit it together with the electronic version of the degree application form.
(3) How to handle the expert signature of the resolution?
The result of defense shall be voted by mail, and the defense secretary shall sort out the voting result into paper materials such as voting votes and defense resolutions.
(4) How to archive defense materials?
After passing the defense and obtaining the approval of the supervisor, the student shall upload the archival draft of the dissertation in time, and submit the complete set of degree application materials such as the degree application form into PDF documents to the degree secretary of each department. After the outbreak is over, students should submit the original paper materials.
(5) Will the issuance of degree certificates be delayed?
The issuance time of degree certificates in March 2020 is expected to be March 30, depending on the development of the epidemic.

(6) whether the pre-defense of doctoral dissertation and blind review can be handled online in time, and how should the online initiation and implementation of the pre-defense of doctoral candidates applying for degree in June, blind review and other processes be carried out?
Thesis defense and blind review are unaffected,.Students apply for degree in June of the doctoral, process is no different from before.All the papers can be submitted electronic signature version, leaving the stamp the form empty first.
