2011 Fall Division D Speech Contest

    On Sunday, Oct 23 2011, the fall speech contest of Division D Toastmasters China was held in Adidas Training Center, 33F Tower 2 Grand Gateway No 3 Hongqiao Rd, Shanghai from 9:30 to 13:30. Contestants and guests from four areas of Toastmasters China-Division 85 attended this meeting. The contest meeting was very successful and our club contestants had achieved a great success!

      Our club members Xiaochen ZHANG, Zhongwei TIAN and Jingjing DOU competed in the English Evaluation Contest, English Humorous Speech Contest and Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest respectively. The contests proved to be very competitive. 8 contestants competed in the English Evaluation Contest. Finally Sarah Lin from Microsoft won the first place. Xiaochen ZHANG also did a very good job by giving a thoughtful and justifiable evaluation. In the English Humorous Speech Contest, each of 8 contestants presented a humorous speech to the audience. Finally, Larry Schuster won the first place while our club member Zhongwei TIAN won the second place. The last section, Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest pulled the emotions of all attendants to the peak. All 7 contestants including a foreigner made very funny speeches. Finally, our club member Jingjing DOU won the first place with her speech “Leftover Girls”. As the champion, Jingjing DOU is honored to represent Division D to participate Hong Kong Convention from Nov 4-6. Congratulations!


     The contest was adjourned by Division Governor Syna Ruan. In her concluding speech, she encouraged everyone to enjoy beauty of humor. What a wonderful meeting!
