SEIEE Signs a Cooperation Agreement with the University of Washington (Seattle) College of Engineering

SEIEE of Shanghai Jiao Tong University officially signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement with the College of Engineering, University of Washington (UW) last April 8, 2014 at Room 208. The attendees of the signing ceremony were Professor Vikram Jandhyala, Dean of the Electrical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering in UW, Director Mahnaz Sherzoi who is in charge of development, Associate Chair for Associate Chair for Scientific Research Cooperation Professor Jeng-Neng Hwang, Professor Mao Junfa and Professor Li Shaoyuan, President and Vice-President of SEIEE respectively; together with Li Xiaoyong, Shen Manyuan and Associate Professor Lin Weiyao, who graduated from UW and now work in the said university. Based on the agreement, the 2 schools may begin doing collaborative academic and scientific researches.

 

After the ceremony, Professor Mao Junfa introduced the faculty of SEIEE, presented the excellent research conditions of the school as well as the outstanding students and notable alumni. Li Shaoyuan said that SEIEE aims at cultivating students with global views and perspectives and hopes that 2 schools could further work together closely in many areas.

 

 

Professor Liu Hui, Vice-President and National 1000 Plan Holder was a tenured professor in UW before coming back to China. Based on his connections with UW, he invited many experts from UW to do the special topic reports and exchange ideas on technology updates with the SEIEE students and teachers which lead to this strategy agreement. He hopes that UW’s advantages could promote SEIEE to have a breakthrough in disciplines and further boost faculty teambuilding.
