Associate Prof. Sheng Bin Won the Best Poster Award at the 1st Intel Asia Innovation Summit

    The 1st Intel Asia Innovation Summit hosted by Intel was held at Taipei from Nov. 18th to 19th, with the aim of helping promote university-industry cooperation and technological innovation.

 

    The summit invited more than 300 representatives from mainland China, Taiwan Province, India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, the US, etc. Prof. Guo Minyi, head of our department, attended the summit as the specially-invited expert. Various activities were arranged in order to create opportunities of cooperation, including keynote speeches, technological seminars, forums, Intel Innovation Showcase, etc. The summit covered many key technologies like IoT, wearable devices, interactive technology, mobile technology and big data, which allowed researchers and scholars of different field to share views on emerging technologies and inventions.

 

    Works from many Chinese universities (including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, National Tsing Hua University (Xinzhu), Xiamen University, Shenzhen University, etc.) were exhibited at the summit. Associate Prof. Sheng Bin, deputy director of the Institute of Computer Application of our department, won the Best Poster Award with the eye-tracking technology. It was the only award won by representatives from mainland China. Wang Wenhan, Vice President of Intel and Executive Director of Intel Lab, presented the award to Sheng Bin.

 

 

    Xia Li from the Lab of Visual Media and Data Management of our department, who is also one of the authors of the award-winning work, said that the award should not only be attributed to the efforts of the team, but also to the instruction of Dr. Sheng and the environment provided by the CSE Department.
