Spring Teaching Steering Forum 2013 Convened

Spring Teaching Steering Forum 2013 convened at Building of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering 3-208 in the afternoon, Mar.13. Dean Prof. Mao Junfa, Associate Dean in charge of undergraduate teaching Prof. Zhang Yan, Associate Dean in charge of graduate teaching Prof. Yang Xiaokang, Undergraduate, Graduate Academic Affairs Office Director and related senate teachers attended the meeting.
                                 

Dean Prof. Mao Junfa was thankful for all the supervisors’ contribution to college teaching supervision and guidance. Supervisors dedicated the valuable experience in teaching and research to the College and insisted playing a significant role in the development of the college. Outstanding undergraduate, graduate teaching achievements in 2012 was reported during the speech. Prof. Mao highly commended all supervisors’ devotion spirit and encouraged them to keep providing valuable advice for the college teaching work.

Associate Dean Prof. Zhang Yan and Prof. Yang Xiaokang respectively introduced some new problems and new trends in the field of undergraduate and graduate teaching. As the same time, they made a small report about the acceptance problem of 985 course construction project and expected all the supervisors to offer precious comments for college development.

During the forum, the supervisors agreed that teaching quality is significantly improved compared to a few years ago, especially the courses taught in English. The majority of teachers are capable at giving speech in fluent language, which greatly enhances the degree of international teaching work. In recent years, the topics of Master’s graduation thesis are as novel as the students at first-class foreign universities. The supervisors clearly stated there are many problems in our teaching work at present.    The quality of English courses construction needs to be improved step by step. We can not only pursue the development speed, otherwise it may cause the decline in the quality of teaching. In addition, they also presented that teaching materials writing task requires a long time to accumulate. The blind pursuit of the quantity is not advocated. The atmosphere during the two-hour seminar is very enthusiastic. Supervisors actively asked questions, reflected the problems and gave opinion on the college teaching development. At last, Associate Dean Prof. Zhang Yan on behalf of the college leadership expressed the most sincere thanks to the work of the supervisors and made a wish that they can take care of themselves and continue making contributions to the development of the college.
