April 9^th marked the 115^th anniversity of Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU). On such a meaningful day, more than 500 alumni of SEIEE reunited in their alma mater. The alumni welcome meeting was held at 1:30 p.m. in Telecom Group 3-200.

SEIEE Party Secretary Zhang Anshen, Executive Vice President Mao Junfa, Vice Party Secretary Mo Guangcheng and Yang Yifan, Head of Electric Engineering Department Yanzheng and three special guests from Technical University of Berlin attended the meeting, which was chaired by SEIEE Dean Assistant Li Pin.

On the welcome meeting, Dean Mao Junfa introduced the faculty’s history and status quo, with his focus on its key subjects and research achievements. He put forward an ambitious vision for the faculty of becoming "domestic forerunner and international leader".

Yan Zheng, Director of Electrical Engineering Department, made a speech on stage. He sent best wishes, especially to more than 100 alumni who graduated form Electrical Engineering major 50 years ago. His “Your health is our biggest wishes” were full of affection and won endless applause.

After that, alumni representatives, the 61^th class alumni graduate Jiang Hongru and the 97^th alumni Wang Xiang, made wonderful speeches. Both of them expressed their great thanks to the alma mater as well as to their respected teachers. Their speeches were the best interpretation of the school motto “Think of the source of water when I am drinking; Love my country and give honor to my school.”

What is particularly worth mentioning is the awards given to SEIEE Prefessors Wang Xinbin and Yan Zheng and SEIEE graduate Zhang Song for their respective contribution to the strategic cooperation and scholarship agreements signed by RIM BlackBerry, Alfa Company, Weidmiller with SEIEE. To express the thanks and recognition, at the end of the meeting, SEIEE Party Secretary Zhang Ansheng honored them with SiYuan Electric Institute Award, and gave them as gifts the silk-made Orchid Pavilion, thanking them for their contribution to the school’s development. Meanwhile, SEIEE accepted the donation from Morita Institute of Science and Technology Co., Ltd., which would inject more power for the SEIEE’s futher development.

The Alumni Meeting came to the end with graduates’ warm applause. After the meeting, the alumni were absorbed in various types of visits and exchange activities.
