Shanghai Jiao Tong University Holds Cognitive Science Development Program Seminar

President Zhang Jie gave the opening speech during the Cognitive Science Development Program Seminar held at SEIEE 3-200 last April 8, 2014. He introduced the background and shared the expectations for the Cognitive Science. “The university’s medium and long-term planning of 2007 already had Cognitive Science and Brain Science as one of key fields for future developmental needs. I hope that all teachers present today could connect the trend of the Cognitive Science with our university’s disciplines’ features while making a developing blueprint for the subject based on emerging problems and research topics,” he said. More than 10 professors and scholars from within and outside universities presented reports to teachers and students on individual and related research achievements and expressed their expectations on Cognitive Science.

Also during the morning, Professor Zhang Jun from the Department of Mathematics and Psychology of the University of Michigan did a report on Cognitive Scientific Research and Expectation. Later, Professor LU Baoliang from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Research Fellow Yu Kai gave individual reports on intelligent interaction and cognitive engineering, which is actually human-computer interaction fatigue testing and recognition of emotion and cognitive semantics and scientific knowledge. Professor Fu Shan of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics introduced the human factors in aviation and calculation of ergonomics.
