Direction/Deputy Director, Full/Associate Professor at National Energy Smart Grid R&D Center

Introduction

National Energy Smart Grid R&D Center (Shanghai) is the first state level smart grid R&D center approved by the China National Energy Administration in Jan 2010. The government has made investment plans for the center amounting to 280 million Yuan RMB from Nov. 2011 to Aug. 2012. The center consists of one common research platform of “digital-physical mixed dynamic simulation system for smart grid” and three individual research institutes. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software facilities of wind power generator sets, solar energy systems, hybrid energy storage systems, microgrid, intellectualized home, vehicle-to-grid, power system simulation, direct current transmission systems, RTDS, intelligent substation, superconductors and relevant simulation tools and devices.

The main research areas of interest include operation modes and standard system architecture of smart grids, smart power metering devices (smart components), intelligent power distribution system and smart system for large-scale customers, security and stability of large-scale systems,information security, superconductors, energy storage systems, etc.

Opening Positions

National Energy Smart Grid R&D Center (Shanghai) invites top caliber applicants from around the world to apply for the following positions: director/deputy director (1 opening), full professors (2 openings), associate professors (3 openings)

Position Requirements:

Director/Deputy director: The applicant should be recipient of the Thousand Person Plan, Yangtze Academic, the Outstanding Youth Fund or professor in a renowned overseas university. The applicant should possess demonstrated leadership and management effectiveness, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and should be under 50 years of age (Academicians are unbounded).

Full Professor: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in related fields. A demonstrated record of conducting research, leadership and project coordination is a must. The applicant should be under 45 years of age.

Associate Professor: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree and studying experience from a renowned university overseas or in China. He/She should be under 35 years of age. Experience in product developments will be an advantage.
